In this article, we will dive deep into what collagen really is, and a great collagen product  that can help joint health. It is called SBEDGE® Supplements’ Collagen Native Type 2 (CNT2). We will dive into the parent company, Sioux Biochemical, and their business journey. We will also learn about the different scientific terms associated with the product and what it can do for your body.

EXPLORING COLLAGEN

Collagen seems to be a hot topic in the wellness and beauty industry. Throughout social media, content creators are sharing the different benefits of including collagen in their daily routines, such as mentioning what it could do for your hair, skin, and nails. Just like any product that trends on social media, the demand continuously increases. Grocery stores are also including collagen supplements like never before. Just by typing in “collagen” on any grocery store’s website, you will be presented with various wellness brands and products.

All of these types of collagens and their brand on the market can be quite overwhelming. You may have to think about what benefit you want to get out of collagen the most. Do you want something more focused on your skin? Then look for a skincare product that is heavy on collagen, such as moisturizer. Do you want your nails to receive more collagen? Then there is collagen in the form of a nail polish bottle that targets your cuticles. Now how about your joint health? This seems to be a question that many people seem to inquire about. Joint health is the condition and functionality of joints in the body. This encompasses strength, flexibility, and range of motion. In fact, maintaining good joint health is essential for quality of life.

Since collagen is a structural protein, it can help joint tissues with strength and stability. As we age, the bodies natural collagen production decreases, which leads to joint stiffness and overall discomfort. Regularly including collagen in your routine can help with that stiffness and reduces the risk of conditions like osteoarthritis.

THE SIOUX BIOCHEMICAL STORY

Before diving into the details of the product, a brief overview of the brand is necessary.

Located in Sioux County in Iowa, Sioux Biochemical Inc. specializes in the extraction and purification of proteins and biomolecules. Allan Kramer, Ph.D. founded the company in 1995 and since then, the company has had experience in the isolation of proteins, hormones, and enzymes. In fact, one of their first products that was available to the wider public was one that was extracted from bovine trachea called Chondroitin Sulfate (also known as CS). CS is a natural compound found in cartilage and the surrounding joints. It helps maintain the cartilage and when used as a supplement, it can support joint health and reduce inflammation. This was a product specializing in joint health and was just the beginning for Sioux Biochemical Inc.

During this time, the company was also working on the isolation of other hormones and enzymes, as well as custom extractions for small and large companies. Their success with Chondroitin Sulfate was so great that it actually led to the formation of a sister company. It is called Sioux Pharm, and it managed the production of CS with those at Sioux Biochemical focused on other projects.

In 2016, Sioux Pharm was purchased by another company who produced Chondroitin Sulfate. The Sioux Biochemical facility was also purchased, moving the team to their current location. This was great for the team as they began research on Collagen Native Type 2.

After all of these changes, Sioux Biochemical began to focus on other aspects of running their business, such as observing their competition. For instance, they realized that markets in other countries were producing adulterated and low quality ingredients for supplements in the US. In return, Sioux Biochemical began SBEDGE® Supplements in order to sell its own brand of collagen supplements and ensure the quality and integrity of the end product to consumers that could be 100% made in the USA. Their years of experience working with protein isolation and with bovine trachea allowed them to create their unique collagen, Collagen Native Type 2 (CNT2) Supplement Pills.

COLLAGEN SIMPLIFIED

There is a lot of scientific terminology when it comes to speaking about Sioux Biochemical and its key product. To break it down a bit more, we will define terms associated with the product.

Collagen Native Type 2 is an undenatured bovine collagen type II supplement.

“Native” and “undenatured” are pretty much what they sound like; a natural and unaltered state. This means that the collagen has not gone through any type of processing. When you take the supplement, it will still be as effective. “Undenatured” specifically means that the collagen retains its molecular structure, so the maximum benefits of the product will be distributed throughout the body.

“Bovine Collagen” refers to collagen sourced from bovine, which is cow cartilage. This type of cartilage more closely resembles that of human cartilage. In fact, it is more compatible with human collagen’s molecular structure compared to other animals. It promotes joint health and promotes skin elasticity. Bovine collagen’s similarity to human collagen means that it can work better than chicken or marine collagen.

“Type 2” is a form of collagen protein that is mostly found in the cartilage tissue of the body. This collagen protein is super important in maintaining the health and integrity of the joints. It can help with joint flexibility, mobility, and comfort.

Collagen is often referred to as the body’s scaffolding as it plays a crucial role in maintaining tissue integrity, elasticity, and strength. Now where exactly is collagen? Collagen is abundant in our joints, skin, tendons, ligaments, bones, digestive system, and even blood vessels. Now collagen is not something that stays with us throughout all of our lives. As we age, collagen production declines. This means two things: visible signs of aging and joint discomfort.

This is where SBEDGE® Supplements’ Collagen Native Type 2(CNT2) steps in. It has the unique ability to potentially stimulate collagen production within numerouse tissues in the body. Here is how it works:

1.Oral Tolerance: When you consume undenatured collagen, it is believed to interact with immune cells in your gut, mainly in the Peyer’s patches.

2.Peyer’s Patches: These specialized immune regions reside in our gut. When you consume undenatured type 2 collagen, it may interact with these patches.

3. Regulatory T Cells (Tregs): Undenatured type 2 collagen has the potential to prompt the formation of Regulatory T cells within Peyer’s patches.

4. Naturally Anti-Inflammatory: These Regulatory Cells migrate into circulation in the body, potentially teaching the body to tolerate its own collagen and potentially producing anti-inflammatory compounds like interleukin 4 and 10 around cartilage. These compounds help quell inflammation and protect joint tissues.

5.  Joint Repair: These cells can also release transforming growth factor-beta which can stimulate collagen synthesis.  In this way undenatured collagen can help to aid in joint repair and maintenance.

6. Skin Resilience: Collagen fibers give skin its firmness and elasticity. Regular intake of undenatured collagen can:

  1. Boost Fibroblasts: Fibroblasts, the skin’s collagen-producing cells, thrive on undenatured collagen.

  2. Reduce Wrinkles: Enhanced collagen synthesis minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.

7. Tendon and Ligament Strength: Undenatured collagen supports the health of tendons and ligaments:

  1. Tendon Repair: Collagen stimulation promotes tendon healing and resilience.

  2. Ligament Integrity: Strong ligaments are essential for joint stability.

8. Bone Density: Collagen is a critical component of bone matrix. Undenatured collagen has the potential to:

  1. Enhance Osteoblast Activity: Osteoblasts, responsible for bone formation, thrive on collagen cues.

  2. Minimizes Bone Loss: By stimulating collagen, you maintain bone density.

Another potential benefit of using this product is that this product helps with gut health. It helps support the immune cells in your gut, resulting in a healthy gut lining.

One of the best parts about this product is that it is in pill format, making it extremely easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

Make sure to incorporate it into your daily routine for best results. Also, be sure to store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from the direct sunlight.
