Nature is infused with many plants, spices, and herbs for health and healing. Often, herbal and plant remedies are not the first thing we opt for, and yet they can have astounding benefits to our well being over time.

Conventional medicine is often a quick fix, whereas natural medicine requires a bit more time to work through - but it can be well worth it! The great thing about herbal and plant remedies is that they are so abundant in nature- you’ve just got to know what you need and where to find it. Added to this, natural treatments can be far kinder to your body and being, and with very few side effects such as in conventional medicine. It’s important to note that herbal medicines aren’t always recommended for long term use. Many of them can be quite potent so always check first!

Here we look at a few herbal remedies for health and healing!

Echinacea

Echinacea is a valuable herb to begin taking before and during the winter season. It is a medicinal herb that can be helpful to prevent colds, flu, and infections; it may also promote wound healing. And if it doesn’t prevent the onset of a bad cold then it may help to shorten the course of it.

Garlic

Garlic is an herbal remedy, and probably one of the most commonly known cures for cold or flu symptoms. It is also popular for reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and improving your heart health overall.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory herbal remedy. It can be especially helpful for those who struggle with inflammatory conditions such as Arthritis or chronic skin problems. It has also been noted as a prevention measure against cancer because of its potent anti-inflammatory properties.

Ginkgo

Ginkgo is one of the most utilized herbs in Chinese and homeopathic medicine. It can help boost brain health and slow down cognitive decline in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia. These herbs are just a tiny snapshot of what nature holds. There are many more well-known herbs for healing and many that are not so well known. The fact is, when dealing with nature, the possibilities are truly endless.

The Thunder God Root story…

My name is Vanessa Copley, and my husband and I run this little store, and we do it for a good reason.  I was diagnosed with a rheumatic condition in 2014.  The pain that a rheumatic condition can bring is intense, debilitating and life-changing.

In 2014, during a visit to my rheumatologist, I was intent on telling her that I had taken myself off the Plaquenil that I had been prescribed about 6 months beforehand to combat the pain I was having from arthritis. After the first 3 months of Plaquenil, I developed debilitating symptoms that I attributed directly to the medication. I felt like my IQ had dropped 50 points on this medication. I informed my doctor, and she sloughed it off, saying she hadn’t heard of that and to continue taking the medication.

I tried for a few more weeks after that, then was fed up and quit taking it. At my next appointment, I told her of my decision, and she instead gave me a prescription for methotrexate.

I read up on the medication before I turned my script in, and I am eternally grateful I did. Methotrexate has potentially deadly side effects, and I felt like I would be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, so to speak, by taking it.

My husband began researching alternative therapies for rheumatic conditions, and he came across a promising herb called Lei Gong Teng, or Thunder God Vine. The problem was, there was no place online that I felt comfortable purchasing from. Being the entrepreneurial folks we are, we decided to make this our own business and started the business we have today. That’s how thundergodroot.com was born.”- Vanessa Copley, Thundergodroot

Thunder God Root plays its role in uncovering nature's secrets for health and healing in their own, unique way.

Thundergodroot.com is a niche online apothecary born of necessity from one woman’s personal battle against not only rheumatoid arthritis but also against the medications that were prescribed to her to combat the disease.

The Natural Benefits of Thunder God Vine Root

Thunder God Vine itself is a very potent and potentially deadly plant. It is only grown in the East (China, Korea, etc), and the plant itself – without proper preparation - is poisonous. The aerial parts (stems, vine, and flower) are deadly to humans and can be used as a pesticide in certain applications. Only the peeled inner root (outside bark removed) is suitable for human consumption, and the Chinese have been using it for thousands of years in preparations for inflammatory conditions.

In the beginning, this product was only a loose powder extract, but then as popularity grew, Thundergodroot knew they had to encapsulate Thunder God Vine and offer it as a supplement in a pill form as well.

Thunder God Vine comes in two different strengths.

  • 20:1 – higher strength, the ratio meaning that it takes 20 pounds of peeled root to make just 1 pound of extract.

  • 5:1 offers a lower strength, with 5 pounds of the product being used to create one pound of extract.

Uses for Thunder God Root include: rheumatic conditions, inflammatory conditions, and now exciting new research is suggesting that some of the naturally occurring active compounds in Thunder God Root, such as Celastrol and Triptolide, are showing very promising results in certain cancer treatments.

Thundergodroot.com also carries several other very niches and sometimes difficult to find herbs, all of which help to treat inflammatory conditions, including cancer support.

Dragon Fruit Extract

Dragon Fruit is grown only in the tropical and subtropical regions in South America and Asia and is a little known member of the cactus family. Appropriately named, the dragon fruit’s outer skin is cactus-like (resembling that of the scales of the mythical dragon!)
