“Humans used to be covered all over by hair, so hair is connected to that animal/primitive part of our nature. It is interesting to see how to more “civilized” we become, the more we tame, cut, style, and shave our bodies, as if trying to distance ourselves from more instinctive animal nature” – wrote Dr. Deb Shapiro in her book “ Your Body Speaks Your Mind”.

Unwanted hair

Yes, we definitely do not like unwanted hair. Women normally produce low levels of male hormones (androgens), and if your body makes too much of this hormone, you may have unwanted hair growth. But, hairy arms and legs are not something women want. This is why waxing, laser hair removal or creams are very important in our daily beauty regime. There are a number of ways to remove or treat unwanted hair. Some treatment effects last longer than others. Temporary hair removal options include:

  • Shaving does not cause more hair to grow, but the hair may look thicker.

  • Waxing is fairly safe and is not expensive. However, it can be painful and there is a risk for scarring, swelling, and skin darkening.

  • Chemicals may be used, but most have a bad odor.

  • Laser hair removal uses laser aimed at the dark color (melanin) in the hairs. This method is best if a very large area needs to be treated and only if the hair is particularly dark (does not work on blond or red hair).

Wanted hair

As long as we shaved and removed our unwanted hair in the same time we also make a lot of afford to have stylish, shine, long healthy hair, which make us even more beautiful.  No matter what your hair type, check out the following simple tips for healthier hair.

Good to know

Hair is made from cells within the skin that harden as they are pushed upward. Each hair follicle actually contains a small muscle, which makes the hair stand upright when you get frightened. Growth is affected by stress, as this can limit the blood flow throughout the muscle and skin.

The best way to grow your hair healthy and strong is to have a simple regime. Wellness magazine shows you how have to get it—starting in your kitchen.

5 tips for healthy hair

1. Feed your hair

Eating a variety of healthy foods will give you the hair you’ve always dreamed of. To get healthy, thick, strong hair you have to fill up on nutrients as Vitamin D, Omega – 3, fatty acids, iron and zinc.

Food for your hair: Fish is a great source of essential fatty acids (EFAs) like omega -3 and Omega-6. Have smoked salmon for breakfast, eat tuna-fish sandwiches for lunch and swap hamburgers for salmon burgers. If fish isn’t your thing, make a handful of almonds your afternoon snack.

Zinc and iron play a big role in your body and your hair needs them too. Oysters are one of the best sources of zinc you can eat. They are also rich in iron. Blue crab meat is also rich in zinc. In 1 can blue crab meat you can find 4.7 mg of zinc. If you like cooked chickpeas ½ cup gives you 1.3 mg of zinc. More zinc you can also find in: oatmeal, pork, chicken or beans. High iron foods include liver, beef, beans, spinach, dark chocolate whole grains and tofu.

2.  Wash your hair two to three times a week. This is max. Buy good quality shampoo. Natural or less chemicals product will be the best. Choose a shampoo and conditioner formulated specifically for your hair type. For example, if you color your hair, use a shampoo designed for color-treated hair. According to American Academy of Dermatology -if your hair is damaged or chemically treated, consider a “2-in-1” shampoo.

3. Once a week use natural homemade hair treatment, like this one below. You can eat this for healthy breakfast or apply to your hair. Eggs, coconut oil, honey, yogurt and avocado are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast or lunch, but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients you can use at home.
