Is your mind your greatest asset ?

The most important resource that controls your life, is not only the one you take most for granted but is also the one you rely on the most. It’s your mind.
Each of us understands how important it is to take care of our bodies, but you rarely hear people telling you to take care of your mind.
Most people don’t think of their mind as a “resource”, but if you think about it for just a moment you’ll realize that it’s true. Your mind is your greatest asset.  You rely on it for just about everything you do.

Where would you be without your intelligence, imagination, and creativity? How would you survive without your memory, your intuition or your ability to reason? You rely on these mental faculties every day of your life.
When you are born your mind is untouched and pure, and as you grow, you develop your mental capabilities, intelligence, creativity and memories good and bad.
The modern world is busy, toxic and chaotic. We are surrounded by noise, pollution and constant information via social media, radio and TV.  We eat foods which are processed are full of poisons and have virtually no nutritional goodness.
All of this can take a toll on our minds and affect our mental clarity.  Without mental clarity, it’s easy to become stressed and confused and to become unhealthy or exhausted.
So how do you reclaim clarity?

There are a number of things you can do to gain mental clarity.
1. Learn how to meditate.
Through meditation, you will quickly learn to achieve mental stillness, and you’ll learn how to concentrate.
Meditation not only clears away all of the repetitive thinking that circulates in your mind, it also strengthens your ability to stay focused and clear during your normal daily life. Meditation also helps stamp out the biggest enemy of a clear mind...stress.

2. Limit your alcohol intake.

3. Exercise regularly.

4. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.

5. Make sure you get enough sleep each night.

6. Spend some time in nature, away from the calamity of city living.

7. Avoid stressful situations whenever practical.

 8. Drink plenty of water.

According to Joshua Gowin, Ph.D. and writer for Psychology Today, “The ability to perform mental arithmetic, like calculating whether or not you’ll be late for work if you hit snooze for another 15 minutes, is compromised when your fluids are low.”
Water is an absolute necessity for all life, but when you’re at your highest level of cognitive function, high levels of hydration is imperative.
Increased water levels have many positive effects on the brain including the removal of various kinds of waste, improved circulation and the ability to maintain heat levels of the brain. Dehydration can decrease brain function and, if not caught early, can ultimately lead to serious levels of brain damage.
Keep yourself hydrated at all times.

9. Add in Supplements.
i) DHA
DHA (Omega 3’s) – DHA is incredibly important for the development of the human brain. When you hear things referred to as “brain food” DHA is the definition of that. It can be found in fatty fish such as salmon and tuna but also seaweed, walnuts, flax seeds, tofu, brussel sprouts and cauliflower are also rich in Omega 3’s
DHA is the primary fatty acid in your central nervous system and controls the improvement of memory and focus and has been shown to slow the effects of Alzheimer’s disease in early onset patients. Many other positive health effects can be a direct result in increased levels of DHA in adults including decreased risk of heart disease, better outcomes for autoimmune disorders, etc.

Lots of research suggests that Omega 3’s actually cross the blood-brain barrier and feed your brain the necessary fats it needs.
If you don’t eat lots of fatty fish then you should use a supplement daily. The Experts Recommended Formula is 2,000 mg Fish Oil, 1400 mg Omega-3 Fatty Acids (600 mg DHA, 800 mg EPA) per serving

ii) SMART DRUGS
Nootropics – sometimes called smart drugs – are compounds that enhance brain function. They’re becoming a popular way to give your mind an extra boost and help improve memory retention and cognitive function.

When you first start taking nootropics, sometimes you’ll feel like nothing is happening, but if you quit taking them you can notice their absence immediately. This is because when your brain works better, it feels so natural that it’s hard to notice unless you have a great degree of self-awareness. On the other hand, sometimes you’ll feel a great cognitive boost as soon as you take a pill.
If you need a bit of an edge for studying for tests or you want more mental energy just to get through the day, nootropics might just be the answer. Truck drivers use nootropics to help them stay awake and business people use these supplements to help improve the sharpness of their brains for presentations, sales meetings, and having the ability to think quicker and deeper.

iii) Minerals, Magnesium, Zinc

Minerals are essential for the brain and many people, including those who live in wealthy, developed countries, do not get enough of these nutrients.
According to doctors, the minerals, magnesium, and zinc are the two most relevant nutrient groups in brain function.
The body stores only small quantities of magnesium and zinc, and young and middle-aged adults with demanding lifestyles, and the elderly may need more of these nutrients to maintain optimum brain function. Therefore, to feed the brain and your mind, it’s a great idea to use a strong Multi-Mineral with magnesium and Zinc.
