Our Recipe For Healthy Skin!

Vibrant, smooth, and moisturized skin is what many of us aspire for. It is the undeniable glow that emanates from healthy, well-looked after skin that keeps us all motivated to perfect our beauty regimen.

As we move closer toward summertime, skincare becomes even more important as it is likely to be on show far more often. Gone are the cold, dark days of winter, when actually, none of us really look our best! However, in the midst of spring, we can set new goals, experiment with different products, and redefine our skincare practice.

Healthy skin requires its natural moisture balance to be maintained. For all skin types, and even more so for sensitive skin, harsh chemical-based washes, toners, cleansers, and scrubs can strip the skin of its natural oils. This can result in the opposite effect of smooth, glowing skin; when skin loses its balance you are more prone to flare-ups and breakouts- something we are all keen to avoid!

Of course, it’s not just about what you put onto your skin; a massive part of skincare is actually what you put into your body. So, here are some tips for you, for clean beauty and healthier skin!

  • Reevaluate your nutrition; this includes how well you stay hydrated. Certain foods and drinks, and dehydration can literally starve your body and skin of what it needs. Focus on nutrient-dense foods, and increase your intake of foods high in vitamins A, C, and E. These vitamins help to protect and support your skin. Try consuming more orange/yellow fruits and vegetables; eat plenty of leafy greens, berries, tomatoes, peppers, nuts and seeds, and oily fish at least twice a week too!

  • Review your skincare and beauty products. Are they actually making a difference to the look and feel of your skin? Raid your skincare products and aim to replace any chemical-based ones with more natural solutions. Natural, organic, and plant-based products are much kinder to your skin and can be more effective overall. Nature knows best!

Clean Beauty

Clean beauty is achievable with just a little more focus, research, and experimentation. Aim to review your skincare and beauty needs every 4-6 weeks, this is a good time frame to establish how well what you are using is working for you!

Bright Body can offer natural, clean solutions for your skin. Bright Body is a line of clean beauty developed by Gabi Day, a chronically ill science nerd who hates plastic waste. Her journey began with a severe flare-up; while disabled and dealing with chronic pain, Gabi occupied her time by learning cosmetic chemistry, sifting through the scientific literature, and learning about herbs and plant-based ingredients.

While she wanted to use only the safest rated ingredients so she could give her immune system as much of a break as possible, she was also frustrated at the pseudoscience and fear-mongering in the world of clean beauty. She spent months poring over science, determined to get the real scoop.

As she regained her strength, she took her knowledge to the kitchen and started applying what she learned to develop products. Bright Body was born and the rest is history!

“Bright Body formulations have a balanced eye for both modern nontoxic cosmetic chemistry and ancient Ayurvedic herbalism. Bright Body believes that the most effective, truly nontoxic products come from this unique approach”- Bright Body

An Ayurvedic Approach!

Her “equal parts scientist and earthy-crunchy” approach shows up in Bright Body’s skincare line; an homage to Ayurvedic skincare with a modern twist

Ayurveda is India’s system of traditional medicine which takes a holistic and individualized approach to health and wellness. Ayurveda is about balancing energetics based on your innate constitution, your imbalance, and the seasons.

An Ayurvedic approach to skin care requires a healthy gut and thoughtfully formulated skincare products. The three main tenets of Ayurvedic skincare are:

  • If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. Bright Body takes ingredient safety seriously, not only are their ingredients Environmental Working Group safest rated, but you could technically eat them (though they wouldn’t taste good!).

  • Organic, gentle, whole ingredients are best for skin and body. Bright Body products never, ever use harsh, drying, or toxic ingredients. Instead, they use the safest rated synthetics and a wide range of Ayurveda’s favorite ingredients like whole herbs, plant-based oils, and food-grade ingredients.

  • Oil is king. Many skin imbalances begin with harsh washes that strip moisture and harsh, alcohol-loaded moisturizers. Ayurveda tells us that gentle cleansing and thoughtful moisturizers with the right oils are the names of the game to maintain the skin’s barrier function. Bright Body facial cleanser products leave you clean but never stripped and our moisturizers make skin soft but never greasy.

Two of Bright Body’s most popular Ayurvedic skincare items are the Ayurvedic Facial Washes and Ayurvedic Facial Oils.

Since Ayurveda is all about personalization, Bright Body Face Washes and Facial Oils come in three formulas designed for the unique needs of each of the skin types (doshas).

The Ayurvedic Facial Washes are a gentle, suds-free face wash that leaves you feeling fresh and soft, and never stripped of natural moisture!
