The Powerful Trio | The Nutritious Bee Hive | Part 2|

The skin is your largest organ. Make sure it gets the nutrition it needs by using products with raw unfiltered organic honey in their formulas. You won’t believe the difference. So, why is honey so good for your skin? Here just a perfect story.

The powerful trio

Anthony & Gwen Maxfield, PhDs, and their longtime friend Christina Sirlin, D.C., started their business in 2006 after 10 years of making skin crèmes for their friends and family. They were (and still are!) healthy lifestyle advocates and were looking for skin moisturizers that were more effective and healthier than what they could find in the market. Most lotions at the time contained one or two organic ingredients and a long list of things no one could recognize or pronounce. Ideally they wanted all of the ingredients to be healthy enough to be considered edible (or at least not toxic), since everything you put on your skin ends up being absorbed into the rest of your body. If you wouldn't eat, why wear it?

So how did they come up with using beeswax, honey and olive oil? When Anthony & Gwen Maxfield, moved into their country-zoned Pupukea residence, it came with some black-and-yellow-striped tenants. Already an amiable and adventurous sort, Anthony dove right into tending the bees, learning to care for them holistically and getting stung many times in the process. But that didn't stop him from increasing his number of hives and harvesting the honey, which he and his wife, Gwen, would offer as gifts to friends. In 1998, 10 years after Anthony started working with the bees and Gwen and Christina hadn’t found their perfect moisturizer, he began working on a skin cream. Like the honey, the results were offered as gifts.

"In the middle of harvesting, I'd notice that his hands would get really soft from working with the honey," Gwen said, "So I asked him if he could make me some kind of lotion that would help my dry and irritated skin."

"I've tried a lot of different creams to help strengthen my nails and cuticles. Some of them were really expensive, but there was nothing that worked as well or was as pure as these," Christina said. "Then I did research on hive ingredients and learned how nutritious they are. There's really nothing out there that can compare."

Taking matters into their own hands was the best decision they made. After much experimentation, they came up with an assortment of blends to address a variety of skin types and issues. Their creams were always received with such enthusiasm that after the kids all were off at college they decided to form a business and allow more people to discover and benefit from these luxurious formulas.

The Dubai Specialized Medical Center and Medical Research Laboratories found that a combination of raw honey, beeswax and olive oil is very useful in the treatment of many skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, and rashes.

This trio of nature’s ingredients has been used for thousands of years to help moisturize and heal the skin. Honey has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help decrease the appearance of scars and leads to faster wound healing. Beeswax is a porous natural wax that contains 300 micronutrients, has anti-inflammatory properties and does not clog your pores. It’s non-comedogenic. Olive oil is an excellent moisturizer and has antibacterial properties and the ability to inhibit inflammation.

Honey Girl Organics brings nature’s own science in skin care ingredients to you in their products by blending  first press organic extra virgin olive oil with organic beeswax and organic raw honey (with naturally occurring pollen, propolis and royal jelly), by hand in small batches and low temperatures. This keeps all the vital nutrition intact and results in the smooth and highly absorbable and rejuvenating moisturizers in the Honey Girl Organics products line.
