Self Care for Super Skin

"According to the theory of Chinese medicine beauty actually is more than skin deep. Good skincare hasn’t really changed much since the time of Hippocrates: get enough sleep, stay hydrated, eat a proper diet, don’t expose your skin to the sun, and stay calm are still good advice when you want to have fresh, youthful skin. But it is also a fact that there are ingredients that can help your skin maintain some of its youthfulness and there are herbs that help the body rest and remain calm." -  Dr. Martha Lucas, L.Ac.

For centuries we have all pondered and explored the secrets to super-looking skin. And the answers aren’t as far out of reach as they may sometimes seem! Modern times have exposed our skin to greater toxicity and pollutants, this has led to a continued increase in those of us that have a skin condition or nagging complaint with our skin.  Conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and many more have prompted a surge in the world of skincare to find or create natural products that truly do help the root cause. Something that modern medicine doesn’t always do!

Going Natural

There are many natural remedies that contain potent and powerful ingredients that can step up to the plate and help us toward super skin, and more of us seeking self-care treatments to find them! Because let’s be honest, skincare treatments in a spa or salon can be fairly expensive! They are more of a luxury, and it’s great to treat yourself when you can, but when you cannot, self-care therapies and treatments can prove invaluable.

But where do you begin? You should always begin with a simplistic yet focused approach to skincare.

Your skin is as individual as you are. Perhaps your skin looks great in the summertime but suffers through the cold season from a lack of moisture. Maybe you have a skin concern that doesn’t seem to be improving with modern medicines and creams. Whatever the issue, there is bound to be something natural to ease it- because, essentially, we are all born of nature!

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is a vast cornucopia of natural remedies and treatments, for your skin and body alike.  There are many vitamins, minerals, and plant oils that are enriched through nature and extracted for use in creams, lotions, or serums. This is not “new age” stuff. These remedies and treatments are centuries old and have stood the greatest test of all- time! Once you understand your skin, you can become more knowledgeable about what it actually needs to look and feel better. My Zen Skincare is driven to help you toward the super skin that you want!

My Zen Skin Care is a business by women that is proud to use natural and organic ingredients. They take pride in being environmentally aware and in being a company that never does animal testing, ever!

The owner, Dr. Martha Lucas, L.Ac., is an internationally known practitioner of Chinese medicine and instructor of Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture and Pulse Diagnosis.

“At My Zen Skin Care, we work hard so your skincare concerns can disappear. We want you to get results which means that the products you use have to work. My Zen products contain problem-solving ingredients so you can rely on having beautiful, healthy skin. The Chinese herbs tackle skincare problems at the root and our plant peptides and other ingredients, like plant stem cells, help your skin produce more collagen leading to more firmness. Our tag line, Om in a bottle, was given to us by one of the first people to test our products. She said she “felt” the products, that they are like “Om in a bottle.” - My Zen Skincare

My Zen Skincare products are free from Parabens, Phthalates, Gluten, and do not endanger any plant life or minerals.

Helping you toward Healthier Skin

At-home facial gua sha is all the rage right now! Thankfully, people have discovered that the tried and true Chinese medicine therapy, facial gua sha, is a way to relax and rejuvenate their facial muscles and improve their complexion. This gentle therapy improves oxygen and blood flow helping to promote nutrients to the skin.

The “scraping” motion of the facial gua sha tool stimulates lymph flow in the face and helps improve hydration. Overall, this treatment helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, give the appearance of a gentle (almost magical!) lift, and make the skin brighter and vibrant.

My Zen’s Cupping and Gua Sha Facial Oil is a versatile, super-charged oil that can be used for facial cupping, facial gua sha, and for cleansing.

It includes a number of naturally potent ingredients. Here is a brief outline of them!

Helianthus annuus seed oil (also known as sunflower oil). It has emollient properties to reduce roughness and provides a protective layer to help prevent moisture loss. It’s high in oleic acid, linoleic acid, and vitamin E.

Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins A, B-carotene, C, D, & E. It can help boost collagen and improve skin elasticity. It can help to address hyperpigmentation and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It is ideal for facial gua sha and for cleansing because it helps regenerate skin cells, clean pores, and eliminate blemishes. It is also known to soothe rosacea and dilated capillaries but overall all suits all skin types.

Camellia helps to balance moisture in the skin and is good for all skin types. It is a trans-dermal carrier of bio-active compounds that help repair skin damage caused by the sun and aging. It will help damaged or irritated skin like acne, psoriasis, eczema, and sunburn. It nourishes your skin which is what facial gua sha, and using an oil cleanser are all about!

Helichrysum targets age spots and fine lines and wrinkles. Used as cleansing oil or for facial gua sha, it promotes healthy skin cell regeneration and gives you a youthful, glowing complexion.

Bamboo (infused into the oil) is rich in silica- essential nutrient that helps keep your skin stay plump and healthy. It is loaded with antioxidants that help minimize wrinkles, make skin look younger, and protect the skin from outside pollutants. It is moisturizing and helps fade dark spots by reducing melanin production.

And after a lovely facial gua sha, the perfect compliment is My Zen Skin Care’s luminescent pearl cream!

Luminescent Pearl Cream is a mineral cream that is ideal to use after facial gua sha because your skin is readily prepped for more tender loving care!

It’s a non-greasy, extract-rich cream that can help prevent wrinkles and lighten hyper-pigmentation.

My Zen live and work on their own Manifesto!

“Believe in LOVE. Inspire someone. Draw with crayons. Be AWESOME. Turn off the television and turn on your imagination. Live in the FLOW of the Yin and the FIRE of the Yang. Breathe. Walk or bike, pet a cat or dog or fish, watch a baby smile and SMILE back. Stargaze. Create a BALANCE. Take a stand, ask why? CARE!"

"Recycle the Earth, plant a tree, let go of stuff, admire a dandelion, bury the past. Cry, laugh, kiss, look for BEAUTY in everything. DREAM about what you love to do and then live your dreams. Morning and night - take time for you - create your own rituals -Om. You are born with a certain amount of heavenly Qi to use in your life before you move on - use it wisely - balance helps you do that” - My Zen Skincare

Balance Is Their Passion, Make It Yours!
