Granola That’s Good For You

Granola has long been the “bait & switch” of the health food world. Filled with empty promises of nutrition, most granolas are pumped with excess sugar and sub par ingredients - until now. We recently discovered Tay’s Gourmet Power Granola, and absolutely love their credo: using the highest quality ingredients to make the best possible product!

The granola’s matriarch is Tamara Hext Hilliard, a former Miss Texas & current yoga instructor. On a trip to Mexico for a yoga retreat, she discovered a powerful snack mix they served which was all natural and provided hours of energy without feeling weighed down. Upon her return, Hilliard set out on a mission to create something similar: a granola with all natural ingredients, no added sugar or preservatives, and chock full of nutrients to get you through the day. Once her first blend was created, she dubbed it “POWER GRANOLA”.

There are four blends of the crunchy snack. Each is made with delicious and health-filled ingredients like unsweetened dried fruit and chia seeds. Now, the yogi-turned-business woman is sharing her lovely granola with the world. With shelf space in retailers like Walmart & Albertson’s, it’s on its way to becoming a household name.

Beyond Granola

As committed as Tay’s is to using ingredients that are good for your body & mind, they’re also dedicated to serving local, national, and international communities. Tay’s Gourmet is partnered with Children’s Hunger Fund, an organization that provides nutritional meals for children & families in crisis. Tay’s Gourmet has a 1 for 1 deal with CHF - for every bag of Tay’s Gourmet sold, a nutritious meal is delivered to a beautiful child who needs it. It’s truly a win win for everyone.

This holiday season, Tay’s Gourmet is offering more bang for your buck and helping more children than ever. Their Holiday Cheer Gift Box gives you every flavor of Tay’s Gourmet Power Granola with free shipping, a “Deliver Hope” wrist band, tied up with bow and tissue, plus provides 5 meals for children in crisis through Children’s Hunger Fund. With a $20 savings and an extra meal to a child in need, it certainly brings holiday cheer.

Healthy Holiday Treats

The holidays are just around the corner, and desserts are the most tempting part of the spread. We came up with a couple of delicious, healthy recipes that will have you saying “pass the granola”!

Banana Pecan Crunch’s Foster

1 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp dark brown sugar

2 tbsp rum

1 tbsp vanilla extract

dash of cinnamon

1 banana cut into pieces

1/4 cup Tay’s Gourmet Banana Pecan Crunch

1/4 cup scoop vanilla ice cream

  1. In a pan over medium heat, add all the ingredients except banana, granola, and ice cream. Stir over heat until mixed properly.

  2. Once mixture starts bubbling, add bananas. Once bananas begin to soften, add granola for 30-60 seconds and remove from heat.

  3. Pour mixture over ice cream and serve. Top with an extra sprinkle of Banana Pecan Crunch.

Coco-Crunch Berries

1 pint strawberries

1 container of melting dark chocolate disks

pinch of sea salt

1/2 cup Tay’s Gourmet Cranberry Nutty Crunch

  1. Wash strawberries and leave the stems on. Pat them dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. You don’t want any water to compromise your chocolate. Place your granola in a narrow bowl near the strawberries.

  2. Start melting chocolate according to directions, or if using regular chocolate, melt in microwave for 30 seconds at a time, then taking out to stir. Repeat until melted completely (be careful not to burn!)

  3. Add the pinch of sea salt, mix into chocolate.

  4. Dip a strawberry in the melted chocolate, and then roll on granola. Place on a sheet of parchment paper. Repeat until all strawberries are covered.

  5. Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes and serve.

Pairing quality nutritional stats with loving & serving others makes Tay’s Gourmet a very well rounded brand. We believe true wellness is built on mind, body & spirit - and this granola certainly points all parts in the right direction.
