Initiatives to Combat Stress

Stress is something that many of us deal with daily. Stress is a natural hormonal response governed primarily by cortisol within the body. Cortisol is our innate “alarm” system, and it is crucial for our survival. It governs our stress response when there is a perceived danger or threat, by which we either fight, flight or freeze as a response to the level of threat or fear.

This stress response is what kicks in to stop you from crossing the road when a car is approaching too fast, or when there is some kind of challenge and your defense mechanisms (stress response) kicks in. The response to stress or a perceived threat can make your heart race, your blood pressure rise, however, as the danger or threat has passed, hormone levels of cortisol and adrenalin return to normal levels.

This all sounds great, doesn’t it? The fact that as humans we have our very own internal alarm system to keep us safe is an amazing thing! There is a downside though.

Stress and the Body

Imagine being on that level of alert all the time, or a lot of the time. It means that your body and the stress response is constantly switched on, meaning that you can never actually switch off. This affects the ability to rest, to sleep, and it impacts the capacity to enjoy life if you are always on a level of high alert or effectively “stressed”.

It is natural to feel a certain level of stress throughout your day, perhaps as you are in a rush to get to work or to take the kids to school. The important thing is that once those tasks are achieved, the body returns to a calmer state. Issues arise when stress is constant and prolonged.

It can cause depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and problems within relationships/communications of all kinds. Stress eats away at every function within the body and can cause inflammation and deficiencies as well as poor digestion function, lowered immunity, heart-related issues, and reduced brain function (such as poor memory, focus, and cognitive function).

That being said, there are initiatives, things that you can do to help yourself reduce or limit stress in your life. Taking control and establishing exercises, supplements, and other techniques to help keep you balanced enables you to live a happier, healthier life.

Here we look at a few things that can help you minimize stress for better wellbeing!

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of stress. You must be able to accept when you are suffering from stress so that you can seek support from loved ones, colleagues, and other professional networks. Some signs and symptoms of stress include problems with sleep, headaches, dizziness, muscle tension, indigestion, loss or increase of appetite, aggression, mood changes, poor memory, and racing thoughts.

  • It seems counterproductive when you are feeling so fatigued through stress, but taking exercise or engaging in some low-moderate intensity physical activity helps to normalize cortisol levels. It is not ideal to take part in the high-intensity exercise as this may mean cortisol levels remain high due to the exertion level. A walk is probably one of the best exercises you can do to help ease stress, it can help you to switch off, relax, and gain clarity as you walk.

  • Nutrition is of great importance. Stress can affect not just your appetite but also the types of foods you eat. Processed foods containing high salt, fat, and sugar will only further impede your health and create further stress and imbalance within the body. Foods that are high in nutritional content, vitamins, and minerals help to support your body.

As stress is so prevalent in society, there are numerous groups, support networks, and professional bodies that can help combat stress. Each of us is individuals and the effects of stress can manifest differently and of course, affect lives differently also. The most important takeaway is to recognize when you are in a period of prolonged stress and take steps to work through it.

BioRebalance created BioRebalance Nutrient Support to help individuals rebalance and improve their wellbeing. It is the first ultra-premium supplement that includes high dosages of nutrients that synergistically support the brain, liver, gut, immune system, and nervous system health all at once.

Prolonged stress effectively diminishes the impact of the “feel good” hormones as the body is essentially out of balance. However, some studies have shown that supplementation with amino acid precursors for serotonin, endorphins, dopamine, and GABA have positive effects for many people who are deficient in these “feel-good” chemicals.

BioRebalance contains all of these natural precursors. They work synergistically with its other ingredients, including “cofactor” vitamins and minerals, fatty acids such as omega-3s, probiotics, and herbs like Ashwagandha.

This supplement was originally devised to support the resolution of nutrient deficiencies for people in recovery; however, BioRebalance is now used by people from all walks of life who wish to maximize their health holistically. Due to its potency and unique ingredient profile, people who take antidepressants should consult their doctor before taking BioRebalance.

BioRebalance is the brainchild of Chris Scott, the founder of Fit-Recovery.com and co-host of the Elevation Recovery Podcast. Fit Recovery offers free articles and email support, an online course called Total Alcohol Recovery 2.0, and private coaching for individuals struggling with alcohol dependence. Chris knew from his own intense experience with alcohol addiction that nutrition is paramount to building a sustainable recovery. The dramatic transformations Chris witnessed among his private coaching clients and online course members also attested to the importance of “nutrient repair” for addiction recovery and mental health.
