Weight loss through the eyes of Dr. Eric Berg

1 2 3

Health and weight loss are not destinations, they are in fact a journey that we undertake in order to live life vibrantly and fully. The transition toward better health is a powerful and purposeful one, one that we embrace when we take responsibility for what we put into our bodies and how we shape our daily lives. Exercise plays a big role in our health and well-being because we are designed to move, but it is our diet and nutrition where the most valuable route to transforming our health begins. There are many differentiating views on diet and nutrition advice, the key thing to focus on is what works for you and brings you the improved health that you aspire to.

A ketogenic diet is essentially a low-carb diet and its directive is to bring your body back to a metabolic state whereby the body produces ketones in the liver to use for energy. Read on for what weight loss expert Dr. Eric Berg has to share!

Dr. Eric Berg knows about the transformative power of diet. Somewhere about 1992 or so, Berg realized that he was killing himself with food. Although he was only in his early 20s, after years of sugar and fast food addiction, he was already showing symptoms of early diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic fatigue.

“I was getting sick and tired of feeling sick and tired;” Berg explains, “But I knew no other way of life. I loved hamburgers, French fried foods, country fried steak, foot-long hot dogs, candy bars, cakes, cookies, Hostess cupcakes, Doritos, Fritos, Pringles—all of it…And at that time, I never even considered that my junk food lifestyle might be causing every one of my health problems.”

After learning he was hypoglycemic (an early sign of oncoming diabetes), he began cutting back on refined carbohydrates and sugar. As he moved gradually toward a completely ketogenic diet, he noticed he began “aging backward,” and “was losing weight, acquiring lean muscle, becoming stronger, looking younger, and getting healthier and more energetic almost daily.”

After two years of eating ketogenic and seeing what it did for his mind and body, he vowed to share his new way of life with the world. He had reversed his hypoglycemia, reversed his arthritis, lost 40 pounds, and was in the best physical and mental shape he’d ever been in. He now wanted to help other people achieve improved health eating a lower carbohydrate life.

As he deepened his study of functional nutrition, he branched out into endocrinology, hormonal and glandular health, and began to travel all over the world to learn from ancient medicine practitioners about what he was learning, the value of Eastern medicine techniques like acupressure, Ayurveda, and lymphatic massage.

Dr. Berg has already helped hundreds of people overcome insulin resistance and pre-diabetes, and wants to save more people from a deadly diabetes diagnosis and a lifetime sentence of obesity.  Dr. Berg’s approach is “it is getting healthy to lose weight, not lose weight to get healthy”.

By creating a diet approach that:

  • eliminates processed foods and refined carbohydrate from the diet

  • focuses on nutrient-dense vegetables packed with anti-aging phytonutrients and minerals

  • enhances insulin sensitivity

  • focuses on satisfaction and fullness rather than deprivation

  • remedies nutrient deficiencies, preventing cravings and binge eating

  • heals the body at a cellular level, preventing disease and reversing inflammation

  • boosts satiety and feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine

  • sets off autophagy and detoxifies cellular junk

  • activates fat burning hormones and suppresses fat storing hormones

  • uses your body type as a key to hormonal imbalances preventing weight loss

  • activates collagen-promoting hormones like IGF-1 and growth hormone in the body

  • improves sleep quality and quantity

  • boosts cognitive function

  • boosts mood and self-confidence

Dr. Berg has managed to achieve what no other weight loss doctor or “guru” has—lasting, healthy, and fast weight loss. Here we outline two products by Dr. Berg which help on that journey to weight loss and better health.

Wheatgrass Juice: The Only Wheat You Need More Of!

Today, most of our soils are depleted and we are not getting nearly enough vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and cancer-fighting phytonutrients in our food. Many people are deficient in iron, copper, zinc, selenium, and manganese today because these trace minerals are disappearing from our stripped soils.

When compared to the other leading brands of wheatgrass juice powder, Dr. Berg’s was much richer in nutrients like chlorophyll, zeaxanthin, and carotenoids, as well as protein, vitamin K, and selenium. The great thing about Dr. Berg’s powdered wheatgrass juice is that one teaspoon is equal to a 12 x 12 tray of wheatgrass. A superior type of wheatgrass juice!

Just one teaspoon of this organic, non-GMO lemon flavored Wheatgrass Juice Powder contains all of the following minerals and vitamins:

  • Potassium

  • Chlorophyll

  • Vitamin A

  • Vitamin C

  • Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol)

  • Vitamin K

  • Thiamin,

  • Riboflavin

  • Niacin

  • Vitamin B6

  • Vitamin B5

  • Iron

  • Zinc

  • Copper

  • Manganese

  • Selenium

  • Essential fatty acids

  • Amino acids

All of these minerals and vitamins are essential to helping you maintain

  • Healthy eyes

  • Youthful skin

  • Healthy bones and teeth

  • Hormone balance

  • Healthy cholesterol levels

  • A healthy heart

  • A speedy metabolism

  • And a healthy weight

You’ll find that when you give your body the minerals it’s been dying for, you don’t have to eat as much or as often, because all those cravings you’ve been having—they’re really for vitamins and minerals.

The Importance of a High-Quality D3/K2 Supplement and Dr. Berg's D3 & K2 Vitamin with Red Yeast

Most of you know that we need calcium to make healthy bones and teeth and to prevent osteoporosis. But did you also know that we need calcium for other important functions, such as to maintain our heart‘s rhythm?

In fact, calcium is essential for so many processes in the body, from heart function to muscle contraction, if we don’t have enough of it in the blood, our body will take it out of our bones and get it that way.

You lose your ability to absorb calcium as you age, so the body begins pulling calcium out of the bones. This is not an efficient means of getting calcium, of course. So, this is why as we age, we begin developing more cataracts, arthritis, and hardening of the arteries. The calcium in our blood isn’t being transported correctly and this “stickier” calcium is being deposited all over the body, in the form of cataracts, tartar, and plaque in the arteries.

That’s where vitamins D3 and K2 come in. D3 and K2 work together to ensure that you absorb more calcium from the foods that you eat and that you keep it moving through the blood efficiently, without it getting clogged in arteries and organs.

D3 and K2 take calcium out of the places it shouldn’t be and put it where it’s supposed to be. In fact, D3 and K2 work together to assure that 99% of the calcium you eat goes to the bone while only 1% is left in the blood. These are the ideal calcium levels for maximum health. Together, K2 and D3 assure both maximum calcium absorption and healthy calcium transport

Without proper calcium transport, you get calcium deposits all over the body. You probably have some of the signs of poor calcium transport even if you’re young.

For example,

  • “Sugar spots” and tartar on your teeth – that’s calcium!

  • Little white spots on the tissue around your eyes—that’s calcium!

  • Cataracts on the eyes? Calcium deposits!

  • Kidney stones, gallstones, and bladder stones—are really calcium stones

  • Hardened arteries are caused by calcium

  • Plaque in the arteries—that’s calcium

  • Calcium deposits in the joints: That’s called osteoarthritis and inflammation

  • Bone spurs are calcium deposits

D3 and K2 act like a broom, sweeping away all these calcium deposits and shuttling the calcium to bones and teeth. You’ll have stronger, healthier teeth which are less prone to decay and cavities, and stronger bones and muscles when you take these two together.  D3 improves calcium absorption by as much as 20 times.

“My job is to spread the word and, hopefully, help more and more get thin, healthy, and avoid or reverse the deadly diseases that are destroying their quality of life!” said Dr.Berg.
